Norman Rockwell

Everytime I see Norman Rockwell paintings, I think of the same thing. We used to have two of his paintings hanging in the downstairs bathroom. One of a little girl and boy, and another of boys playing marbles. Those were really good, but I like these too. The first painting of the mother with the little boy..that one seems to me like the mother is forcing education on her son. But I guess it could also be a teacher maybe with one of her students.

so one of the questions?

1) What is happening in The Spirit of Education? What is Norman Rockwell saying about the situation- and about education- through the attitudes of the boy and the seated woman?

Like I said, I think that might be a mother with her son...And I think the sign on the boy's chest is kind of labeling him as the attitude towards education. The expression on his face is one of disgust, and that is how most children think of school beyond about the 4th grade. It stops being fun and starts becoming work. Yet even though most kids hate school, their mothers still make them go. Its a neverending circle..

haha, have you guys seen Chuck and Larry...? "Because love is like a circle.. it never ends. It's not a triangle. Triangle have corner.." haha I thought that movie was hilarious.

At first I thought it was a teacher, but I see how it could be a mother as well. Good point. And that was a pretty funny movie as well.

I love the movie Chuck and Larry hahaha! But anyways... I think the picture is of a teacher and her student but you might be right about it being a mother too.
